Atlanta artist, Tyler Colgan, was born in Montgomery, Alabama. She knew early on that she would have a career in art and began painting in high school. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in studio art with an emphasis on painting at Hollins University in Virginia, where she spent a semester abroad studying art and interior design in Florence, Italy.
After college she earned a degree in Interior and Environmental Design at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her professional work began with a combined ten years managing projects for Madeline Stuart in LA and Jackye Lanham in Atlanta.
Since moving to Atlanta in 2000, she has continued to work on design projects and paints out of her home studio. She is drawn to landscapes and abstracts, inspired by natural elements and color. She lives in Buckhead with her husband and two daughters.
“Whether on a canvas or in a room, color is my starting point. I have always been drawn to anything with a patina, faded colors that give the feeling of being worn, loved, and imperfect.”
